Getting There & Around

To get there, the two best options are: 1) Fly to Marseille and drive/taxi one hour north, or 2) Fly to Paris and take the high-speed TGV train to Avignon (2.5 hours), then drive/taxi 50 minutes southeast — see below for details.

To get around, we recommend renting a car for your visit, or sharing rides with friends. There is nothing quite like driving through the Luberon with the sun shining and the windows open on the way to market or a spontaneous excursion.  You can also take a taxi— we have secured Olivier’s car service for the weekend at local rates, see below for details. Our wedding organizer Sebastien Gueit can help you arrange this, feel free to contact him by email (sebgueit@yahoo.fr) or mobile (+33 6 16 87 81 01).

On the day of the wedding, we can provide transportation home for those who prefer not to drive. French drinking & driving laws are very strict. For your own enjoyment, safety and the safety of others, please feel free to celebrate and let Olivier do the driving!

Fly to Marseille

Flight: Fly to Marseille (MRS) via Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich, or Brussels — these are the most common transfers from the US.  Rent or hire a car for the one-hour drive north to Lacoste or a neighboring village.

Car Rental: You can rent a car at the airport (all the major companies are there) and drive one hour north to Lacoste (or a neighboring village). Google maps driving directions: http://goo.gl/maps/IFz4C

If you’re planning a longer trip, another option is to take a taxi one hour north from the airport to the Super U market in nearby Coustellet (10km from Lacoste), where you can rent a compact car at a deep discount of 10 Euros per day.  Olivier will take you to the Super U and help facilitate the rental — you can contact Sebastien to organize this.  You will need an international driver’s license if you rent locally from the Super U — you will not need one for rentals from the airport (or the Avignon TGV station).

Car Service: Olivier can drive you from the airport to your accommodations at local (rather than tourist) rates.  The weekday rate is 95 euros and weekend and evening (after 8pm) rate is 115 Euros.  Tip is included, though you can feel free can add 5-10 Euros for exceptional service.  Contact Sebastien to arrange this in advance.

Fly to Paris

Flight/Train: Fly to Paris Charles de Gaulle airport (CDG) and take the TGV high-speed train to Avignon. The train station is inside the airport — see voyages-sncf.com for schedules and tickets. Rent or hire a car for the 50-minute drive southeast to Lacoste or a neighboring village.
